Hyde Park

Hyde Park was established in 1891 'out in the country' as one of the first suburbs. These days its leafy streets lined with multi-colored houses are filled with dog walkers, joggers, parents with strollers and bikers, the many front porches invite neighbors to stop for a chat. You can find stately Victorian homes, Craftsmen style bungalows and occasionally new homes,  built to fit into the neighborhood. Residents are diverse, students, hippies, lawyers, bankers and retirees are all represented. Shops nearby are at the Triangle, Hancock Center and along the Drag, in front of the University of Texas. For lunch or dinner try the vegitarian Mother's Cafe and Garden, Asti, the Italian restaurant or the beloved Hyde Park Bar & Grill. Recently voted the 'best neighorhood to live in' Hyde Park is very uniquely Austin!
